July 8th - 25th "Mount Tabour Playhouse", Milford, Prince Edward County. Premier of "Ship of Fire", by Marion de Vries, Bernie Gaw, Tom Leighton and Suzanne Pasternak:

(1853. In the waters off Prince Edward County.) A young Irish lass and a ship's crewman meet aboard The Ocean Wave, a luxury passenger steamship travelling between Montreal and Hamilton, on its fateful last voyage. This musical is based on historical events and is inspired by the lives lived and lost off our southern shore and the heroic County folk who rescued the survivors.

Tom Leighton is the music director and in addition to being a co-composer has also orchestrated this musical. In addition to Tom on keys, bouzouki. whistles and accordion the band also has local whiz Zeke Mazerak, violin and Alyssa Wright on cello. The cast is made up of 1st class performers. This will be a musical side of Tom that is not frequently heard.
